The Community Centre Association is an unincorporated body, registered as a charity, and run by its Trustees. The Trustees are wholly unpaid and are members of the local community who wish to help in making the Centre the best it can be. The Association's activities are governed by its Constitution (available as a download) which provides for between 6 and 15 Trustees responsible for strategic and financial matters with an extended committee including representatives nominated by the users of the Centre being involved in the decision-making process. Pen pictures of the Trustees are available using the side buttons. We are always looking for local talent to become Trustees and to help move the Centre forward, so if you can spare a few hours a month, we would be delighted to hear from you. Just use the 'Enquiries' button above and we'll do the rest. On a day to day basis, the Centre is ably run by our Facilities Co-ordinator, Gillian Dunn who is a Council employee. We also have 2 hallkeepers, employed by the Centre, John McLaughlin and Jimmy Telford. On the youth development side, Edinburgh Council provides youth leaders who oversee the programme. Additionally, for some classes the Centre itself is the provider, employing the leaders directly and charging fees to recover part of the cost. Details of these are in the 'Activities' section. Currently, a fair amount of work is being done on a proposal that the Association should become a Development Trust, taking ownership of the building from the Corporation. It is still very early days in the process, but if it happens, it will make a substantial difference to the way the Centre operates. The views of the general public will be sought before any proposal goes ahead. Trustees can login to the Trustee section here. |
